Detroit, Michigan -- February 29, 2016 – The Detroit Chapter of New Leaders Council (NLC) has accepted 20 new fellows for their 2016 Fellowship class. NLC is an exciting network of individuals, highly-skilled in working together across sectors to ensure strong democracy, social justice, and equal opportunity. Their mission is to recruit, train and promote the progressive, political entrepreneurs of tomorrow.
Through a vigorous selection process of testing, interviews, and personal essays 20 future leaders were selected from over 100 applicants. Once all program requirements have been met, including planning and coordinating a large charity event, the fellows will graduate from the program and join over 3,000 NLC alumni in over 35 different chapters across the nation, later this summer. "The fellows of the New Leaders Council - Detroit chapter are comprised of some of the brightest, most talented, young professionals and entrepreneurs in the city. The program equips them with tools, strengthen existing skills and teaches them about available resources and new opportunities," said Chapter Director, Dr. Cecil Forbes. "Each fellow is asked to complete a capstone project of their own to 'put practice to action.' And while the program does have an official start and end, the capstone projects fulfill real-life needs and create opportunities to give back to our community. Three of last year’s fellows came together with the successful creation of Detroit E3, they visit classrooms to inspire and encourage young minds and we absolutely cannot wait to see how the 2016 class keeps the momentum going with their individual capstones." The current NLC Curriculum includes Messaging & Framing, Tech & New Media, Public Relations & Marketing, Leadership & Values, Political Management and Fundraising. Industry leaders from all over the country will teach these courses and test the skills of each fellow. A meet & greet to introduce the 2016 Fellows Class has been scheduled for March 2, 6-8pm at PV Lounge |1435 Randolph Harmonie Park |Detroit, MI 48226. An RSVP is required and can be made, here. The Autonomous Vehicle Test & Development Symposium 2016 is certain to bring together leading engineers from all around the world who specialize in the field of autonomous vehicle R&D, and its corresponding testing and validation. This exciting conference is scheduled to be held in Stuttgart, Germany alongside Automotive Testing Expo 2016, the world’s largest exhibition dedicated to new vehicle development and testing, and in conjunction with Traffic Technology International magazine, the world’s leading magazine for advanced highway and traffic management technologies. This affair will boast over sixty of the leading experts in driverless vehicle testing from around the globe - so be certain to be there for the latest on connected cars!
Special Features at this year's event Of course, advanced driver assistance systems giving rise to fully automated driving vehicle technology is not a new concept. In fact, ever since the final meeting of the Eureka PROMETHEUS Project in Paris in 1994, it has been clear that fully autonomous self-driving vehicles are set to become a reality, yet 20 years later the final stages of testing, validation and fail-safing pose a huge challenge to the automotive industry. The rigorousness and thoroughness of the testing processes need to be conducted at an altogether higher level of fidelity than anything that has gone before, if the final reality is to be achieved with complete safety and integrity guaranteed.
